Daring Fireball's “no spin zone” take on Adobe Macromedia acquisition

Funny post at Daring Fireball translating Adobe's Macromedia acquisition FAQ document...

"Are there areas of duplication in product lines? If so, how will that be addressed?

Adobe and Macromedia are committed to serving the needs of our combined customers. The companies are largely complementary, and thus the amount of competition between us is limited. Post closing, we believe the industry will remain as dynamic and competitive as it is today. Until the close of transaction, the companies will continue to operate business and usual. The combined company will not be able to create a joint product roadmap until after the transaction is closed.

DF: Adobe and Macromedia have been best friends since like fifth grade, dude! That whole software-patents lawsuit a few years ago? We were just joking. We punk’d them.

Sure, there are tiny little areas of duplication. You know, like Freehand-vs.-Illustrator, the longest-running and most competitive rivalry in the design and publishing industry. This will be addressed by, well, unduplicating some of these apps. Competition is overrated — it only benefits customers."

New Wacom wireless tablet

Wacom cuts the cord and finally makes graphire tablet wireless using bluetooth technology. Currently, it only comes in 6x8 and costs about $250. I think I'll wait until the 4x5 comes out since this is my preferred size. From macworld news...

"The 6 x 8-inch tablet includes a cordless, battery-free pen that supports 512 levels of pressure sensitivity and a built-in eraser. The tablet can work up to 30 feet away from its host computer and touts a rechargeable lithium polymer battery that can work up to 25 hours between charges. A universal power adapter included with the tablet takes about five to six hours to top off the battery, according to Wacom."

First post using Ecto for Mac OS X

This is a test post from ecto app. I love how easy it is to post using this app. Much better than the online editor that blogger provides. Also, a nice little feature is the ability to insert the current track playing in my iTunes...
